Lovejoy Garden

In my garden I am loved, I am at peace and I am home.

To have a garden of any size is a gift not only to yourself, but a gift giving back to the planet. There is nothing more exciting to me than seeing freshly dug soil mixed with black compost just waiting to have seeds planted in it. It represents the time of year when the days are warmer and longer, birds will be chirping away and soon flowers will be bursting in the air with their fragrance.

Gardening is important to me, for not only does it ground me but it picks up my spirits when I need a little help. Organic gardening is essential for me and my family. We value what we put in our bodies and it must begin with what we put into the soil. It's all about personal choices.

Awareness begins with what goes into the soil. If the plants are not nourished, how will the food nourish us? Any chemicals that get applied are chemicals that ultimately end up in our bodies.
Of course, organic gardening is very much an understanding of balance. The soil needs to be just right, the airflow, the beneficial insects need to be abundant, good water drainage is a necessity and the right nutrients to feed the plants. It's very much like our own bodies. A healthy body needs balance in order for all the systems to run smoothly.

I have listed many excellent resources for both the beginner and the advanced gardeners. Enjoy the stories and the recipes that come. I will be changing them periodically.
