About Reiki

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during a treatment?

Each person will have their own unique experience. I have observed so many different responses that I can only speak about the most common ones. The majority of my clients feel a warm glow of heat coming from my hands and feel a lot of love. Many feel a tingling sensation at times moving through their bodies. Quite often, clients report seeing different colors or images as they relax deeply and some even fall asleep. Without exception, my clients say it is the most relaxing experience that they have ever had. They are very still, quiet and peaceful afterwards. The aches and pains are released, and the daily stresses they came in with are left behind.

Is it like a massage?

Not really. The only similarity is that the person will be lying down on a massage table. You are fully clothed and usually covered with a light blanket. It is very non-invasive, and there shouldn't be any discomfort. I do not use oils. I just use my hands. Sometimes I may use other healing modalities that I have trained in which I will incorporate based on my inner guidance. For example, the use of crystals, aromatherapy, tunig forks, Tibetan bowls, flower and forest essences and voice dialogue (a facilitation of counseling that works with integrating all of the parts of the ego) are among many of these 'tools' that I have accumulated over years in this work.

Do you need to know any past history?

That is really up to the client. Reiki is very complimentary to all medical practices, so if you are on medication or have had chemotherapy, it isn't necessary to share that information.

Who can learn Reiki?

Reiki training and practice does not require any specific belief or religious following. Therefore, anyone can learn and practice it. Since it uses "Universal Life Energy" to channel to oneself and to others, it can be a great aid to spiritual practices and to other forms of healing therapy. It is a beautiful gift to be able to help your children or other family members when they need a little extra boost of love.

What is Reiki Training?

There are 3 levels to the Usui System of Reiki healing. Reiki 1 level, Reiki 2 level and Reiki master level.

Reiki 1 is for anyone to use. You simply receive the oral transmission or attunement that open up the hand chakras. You learn the hand placements, have a chance to practice on others and discuss the benefits of giving Reiki to oneself or others for healing. It is not something that can be obtained from a book, but must be receive from someone with all of the training involved

Reiki 2 covers more symbols for working with the emotional levels and long distance healing. You will have an opportunity to work on others and others will work on you. The level of attunement that is received is stronger than level 1, and you will feel it when you practice Reiki on yourself and others.

In Reiki mastery you are given all of the symbols. You are trained at giving attunements and other advanced Reiki skills. You will have the opportunity to practice giving as well as receiving many attunements to become very certain that you are capable of passing it on. One most likely has chosen a path of helping others in some form if they choose to take this class. They may already be a Reiki practitioner or use Reiki in their healing techniques.
